have a very sweet male black & white Japanese Chin 4 month old puppy I need to rehome. He has just been neutered, is current on all his shots, and has been on frontline and heartguard. He is crate-trained, and has been doing well with house-training as long as he has very close supervision and frequent trips outside. He is AKC registerable, I just haven't sent in his paperwork yet. He does well with other dogs, however very large dogs may inadvertantly injure him (he weighs about 6 lbs.) and he is sometimes too rough with dogs that are much smaller than he is. I brought home Kiki in December at 7 weeks old. Kiki lost his mom at 3 days old and was syringe fed for 2 weeks, then fostered by a papillon with two younger puppies. As a result, he missed out on some important training from his mom on how to interact well with other dogs. He has occasionally been aggressive towards my son (growling) when he attempted to pick him up. This is why I would prefer to have him in a home without very small children.
I have recently brought home two show prospect long-coat chihuahuas, assuming that Kiki would get along great with them (my standard poodle adores him). Unfortunately, he plays so roughly with them that he has almost injured them at times. He does much better with well-behaved larger dogs, because they let him know when he is going too far. He really needs more attention than he is getting here.
He knows "sit", "shake" and "high five". He is very smart, easy to train, and extremely food motivated. He will probably be a little oversize for the standard chin (4-7 lbs.) but my guess is that he will stay under 10 lbs. He does that adorable chin "yodel" to let you know what he's thinking. I am asking for an adoption fee to partially offset my expenses for him and to help insure he is going to a dedicated owner.I have pictures for those serious about adopting him. I have had Kki at a trainer's house for a week to evaluate him. She feels that he will need formal obedience training to help him overcome the effects of losing his mother so young. She also strongly recommends that he be placed in an adult only home with experienced dog owners. He will need a lot of consistency, attention, loving, and strong leadership from his owners in order to thrive.
I have lowered his adoption fee to $200 so that his new owner will have
funds available to work with a trainer and/or do obedience classes with him.
Please email with info about you and your home situation.
